Hefeweizen

Our hefeweizen is of the classic Bavarian variety. Made with 70% wheat, lightly hopped with German Hallertauer, it's refreshing and slightly dry with the beguiling banana and clove notes that give away the provenance of the true weizen yeast we use. This is a German-style wheat beer the way it should be--no lemon needed to make up for inadequacy.

Kölsch

This is Occidental's homage to the delicious ale of Cologne, Germany. Crisp and dry, it is clean and lager-like, with a pleasant, slightly spicy hop profile supplied by German Perle. Very "sessionable."

Alt

Our take on Dusseldorf's broad style features our most complex grain bill, which produces a malty, amber beer with a lot of flavor. Saphir hops give it a spicy, noble aroma and delicious hop profile. Definitely on the hoppy side for this style of beer.

Dunkel

The Munich classic, Occidental style. Malty and smooth, we produce our Dunkel with a clean-fermenting ale yeast, leaving a beer with a hint more flavor complexity than a Dunkel lager. Balanced with an assortment of noble hops, this is a beer equally at home with a hearty meal or as an after-work foamer.

Current Seasonals:

Maibock

Maibock is a strong German lager style brewed for the spring. Ours is an easy-drinking, refreshing example of the style with a very slight sweetness and moderate alcohol finish.

De Keuze

De Keuze (Dutch for "The Choice") is a Belgian-style Dubbel brewed for the Portland Cheers to Belgian Beers Festival. A complex and aromatic malt bill results in a strong but not overpowering 7.5% ABV, while Spalt Select hops compliment a diverse and fruity ester profile.
